Chon-Alai District, Kyrgyzstan. May 5-6, 2025, was a landmark event for Kyrgyzstan's agriculture. As part of a major project in the Chon-Alai district, a series of key events took place, opening a new page in the development of elite potato seed production. The main event was the first demonstration planting of Super-Super Elite potato seeds in the country's history, carried out with the participation of an international expert.

Day 1: Dutch experience on Kyrgyz soil
On May 5, the Chon-Alai district welcomed Simon Schutter, a seed potato expert from the Netherlands. His visit began with a meeting with the district administration, where current and future project initiatives were discussed. Local authorities expressed their full readiness to support this important project.

The expert group then visited a local potato storage facility. Simon Schutter conducted a detailed inspection of Super-Super Elite category seeds and provided valuable recommendations on improving storage conditions. He emphasized the parameters that a modern storage facility must meet in order to achieve the best results.

The first day ended with theoretical training for farmers, where advanced planting technologies and methods of combating viral diseases during seed storage were discussed. The participants showed great interest, actively asked questions, and noted the practical value of the information they received.

Day 2: From theory to practice – laying the foundation for the future harvest
On May 6, a key event took place – a demonstration planting of Kolombo (Super-Super Elite) seeds on the field of farmer Aftandil Abraimov. The event was attended by representatives of the district administration, local farmers, members of cooperatives, and the project team. An expert from the Netherlands personally supervised the planting process, advising participants on all technological aspects.

After the demonstration, a lively discussion took place, during which Simon Schutter shared his observations and gave individual recommendations on growing seed potatoes in the conditions of the Chon-Alai region. Farmers had a unique opportunity to ask their questions directly to an international expert.

Significance for Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia
This planting of Super-Super Elite category seeds was an unprecedented event for Kyrgyzstan. Attracting international experts and introducing advanced technologies is a crucial step in the development of elite seed production. This not only opens up new prospects for farmers in the Chon-Alai district, but also lays a solid foundation for increasing yields, improving product quality, and strengthening food security throughout the country and Central Asia as a whole.

The TES Community is proud to be at the forefront of these significant changes, contributing to the sustainable development of agriculture and increasing the incomes of our farmers.
